Go to the
Download CAB File page, log in if necessary, then click on the link to download the CAB file to your computer.
If you are using the browser on your Windows Mobile Smartphone or PocketPC you
can install the software by just clicking on the Download CAB File link on the Download CAB File page.
On the Today Page on your Windows Mobile device, select Start, then select
Programs, then select "FreeCaddie" to start the software. When you start the
program up it will look like this:

The first time you run the software you will need to configure your GPS.

The easiest way is to select "Set by Windows" which uses the GPS Intermediate
Driver.

Course files are stored in the directory \Program Files\FreeCaddie\Courses.
At present you will need to manually copy a course file into this directory
using ActiveSync. Soon you will be able to download course data directly from
the FreeCaddie software.
FreeCaddie stores each course file in a zip file. There is no need to unzip
these files, just put them into the \Program Files\FreeCaddie\Course folder.
Zip files are one type of file that Windows Mobile IE can save so it is possible
to get a file via the browser.

Select the "Select Course" option, then scroll down, select a course and press
OK to select it.
Once a course has been selected, the name of the golf course will appear at the top of the screen.
The large black number is the number of yards to the center of the green. Below
that number is the yardage to the front and back of the green.
The current time and number of satellites is also displayed. The other number is
the number of GPS updates and should increment each time the GPS provides new
positional information.
You can either use the menu options, the navigational pad (up/down) or the volume dial to change holes.

Freecaddie can display either yards or meters.
FreeCaddie can be used with a white or black background.
You might find one or the other easier to view.

This option turns off the display. Owners of HTC Moguls from Sprint may find
this useful if they experience device.exe crashes (a known device driver issue).

FreeCaddie can use the Windows Mobile "GPS Intermediate Driver". In order to configure your GPS properly follow these instructions.
- From the Start Menu select "Settings".
- Select the "System" tab at the bottom
- Select "External GPS" ("GPS" if Windows Mobile 5).
Your display should look something like the following (the GPS program port is
set by the manufacturer if you have a built in GPS - this screenshot was from a Sprint HTC
Mogul and Sprint set the port to COM4).

Select the Access tab on the bottom and make sure the "Manage GPS Automatically"
checkbox is checked.

Then run FreeCaddie, select a course and you should see yardages appear. If you
don't a see yardages (you may need to be outside), try running the
Google Maps application
on your phone and select "Use GPS" from "Menu".
FreeCaddie Pro Users can record their score and statistics during their round. From the menu select "Enter Score" to bring up a screen.
Use your navigation pad to move up/down between items. Left/Right on the navigation pad increments and decrements values, pressing down checks/unchecks check boxes.
